SANTORINI

row 1
Santorini is an island of unparalleled beauty. A piece of jewelry whetted by the Aegean sea. There are a lot of things to see and admire there besides its world-famous sunset and the picturesque setting.

The caldera and the island of Santorini is the outcome of the volcanic explosion that took place almost 3.500 years ago and now it is one of the natural wonders of our planet. The sweeping views to the volcano and the caldera never stop attract people from all over the world.

Located on the southern side of the island, the Akrotiri Minoan Site is one of the most prestigious ancient sites on the whole island. It was found intact, under layers of ashes. The site reopened to visitors in April 2012.

Museum of Prehistoric Thera is a must visit museum as it displays prehistoric findings unearthed from the Faros region. Weaponry, ceramics, marbles and statues can be found among others.

There is also an astonishing array of churches and chapels. Among the most notable is the Monastery of Agios Nikolaos, and the Church of Holy Cross. The former is situated between Firostefani and Imerovigli, was founded in 1674 and hosts Byzantine icons and relics. The latter is one of the largest churches on the island, featuring a stunning blue dome.

Santorini has something for everyone; from cultural venues to stunning beaches and culinary delicacies, the island is the ideal destination for those that pursuit perfection.
